I have the Monday blues as I return to work today after a cold and wintry spring break. That’s really an oxymoron break, isn’t it? Snow, freezing rain …bring on the spring weather. I’m ready for it, and today is the first day of spring. I actually got more reading done than I thought over the break having finished four books. My original plans for break fell through, so I read. I loved every one of the books, too. This week, I’m reading a book I’ve been anticipating for a while (I can’t wait to dig into it tonight) and a couple from my public library.
This week, I’m reading…
I’ve been dying to get to One of the Boys, which released last week. It’s been on my highly anticipated list for a while and is a fairly short book, so I’m attempting to finish three books this week. My holds at the library finally released for the other two books, which come highly recommended by a couple of different bloggers I follow, so we shall see if they work for me, too.
I finished reading…
What a whirlwind of wonderful reading I had last week while on spring break. The weather was great for cozying up in a blanket and reading, so I did. I LOVED every one of these books. Dead Letters wasn’t what I thought it was; it was so much better. I’m fascinated by The Stranger in the Woods because it’s true! Bear Town is not the sweet story with elderly characters I’ve come to associate with Fredrik Backman, as this one contains a sensitive topic for a lot of people. I really like this new side to Backman. Art of the Pie is the Big Library Read for March and is so good. I loved the author’s style of writing and the content, and the recipes look gobble ’em up good. The Big Library Read is a global book club and reading program through public libraries connecting readers all over the world.
And, for your listening pleasure, the stylings of Chris Blue, a local vocalist who won over Alicia Keys. Chris performed at Reach Them to Teach Them a couple of years ago, and he’s fabulous. We’ve had several singers from Knoxville on The Voice and American Idol (remember Emily Ann Roberts?), but Chris is special. I can’t way to see how he does with Ms. Keys. Go, Chris! #representKnoxville
See why Alicia Keys had to give this artist her final spot of the season.
